Writing for Professional Development and Wellbeing
‘Writing puts me in touch with my purpose, my Self and therefore my direction’ (Massereene-James)
In an increasingly busy world, it is even more important that we make the space in life to recognise and look after our own needs, both on a personal and professional level. According to the charity Mind, stress is already costing the economy up to £99bn each year, in terms of lost work days, and 300,000 people every year leave their jobs because of stress.
Reflective writing is an amazingly powerful method of gaining greater self-insight and improving our wellbeing. Taking time to do it effectively is recognised as key to good mental health, reducing stress levels and giving people a greater sense of purpose and control. Emma has developed her Masters training in Critical and Creative Writing, and Reflective Writing for Personal Development, into enjoyable and effective workshops, empowering participants by teaching them valuable life skills in personal reflection.
Professionals across Hampshire and Dorset have been benefitting from these successful and highly-rated bespoke workshops for the past few years. They are usually delivered to up to 10 people and run over one day, either on-site or in locations selected for their inspirational and peaceful qualities. Please contact Emma at firstname.lastname@example.org to arrange an informal chat about prices and how she can make it work for your business and your staff.
Writing for PR and Marketing Purposes
As a former journalist (Reuters news agency and the major magazine publishers), Emma not only knows how to write copy that readers will really trust and engage with, she also knows exactly what the media are looking for and how they decide on which stories they might feature. If you are looking to raise your company’s profile in the media, or improve communication with your existing and potential customers, why not invest in staff training in effective writing for PR and marketing? For a fraction of the cost of employing an agency, you or your staff can learn, or enhance, the necessary skills for communicating better with the media (writing press releases, identifying your company’s stories) or with your customers (content writing for websites, printed materials and social media).
As a senior lecturer for over 18 years, Emma has coached numerous students to professional success in journalism and corporate communications. Her years of working for a business magazine have also given her an excellent understanding of the needs of SMEs, and she enjoys working with small businesses, coaching key staff in skills that not only benefit the company, but they will find useful for the rest of their working life. Her previous clients have included south coast marketing agencies, university marketing staff, and the marketing departments of much larger companies, including private healthcare companies.
